Woodsum Spur

The Puzzle Mountain and Woodsum Spur Trails are located in Oxford County, Maine. The Stewart Preserve hosts the trail. It is named for Bob Stewart who donated his property and land to the Mahoosuc Land Trust. Ken Woodsum was a conservationist, forester, and pioneer in the creation of the current trail.

Puzzle Mountain Trail is a loop hike that combines the Grafton Loop Trail and the Woodsum Trail. It offers spectacular views of western Maine. The trail is accessible from the Stewart Family Preserve's parking lot, which is located just off of Route 26.

Grafton Loop Trail

The Grafton Loop Trail is a great choice for hikers who love panoramic views. Hikers can choose to start at either Old Speck Mountain or Grafton trailheads. At the end of the loop, they will reach the Bald Mountain parking lot. While this hike is not technically difficult, it requires some skill to complete.

There are many picturesque overlooks along Grafton Loop Trail. This loop runs for 39 miles and connects the Appalachian Trail to Grafton Notch State Park. It also crosses private property. Depicted campsites are required as the trail crosses private property. Campfires are not allowed.

Mahoosuc Land Trust

The Mahoosuc Land Trust not only owns beautiful land but also the McCoy Chapman Forest. This 500-acre tract is located west of Bethel in Maine and stretches from the Androscoggin to the Mahoosuc Range. The land was donated by the family of a former landowner, and is now available for year-round recreation. This project is a collaboration with the Friends of the Androscoggin.
